This Cookie & Tracking-Technologies Policy explains the small number of technologies we use across our websites at www.theodyx.com and our related domains (together, the “Site”), and the ones we deliberately do not use. Theodyx Inc. is built to be privacy-first and largely cookieless, and this policy is meant to describe that approach plainly. It works alongside our Privacy Policy, which describes how we handle personal information more generally.
A quick word on what these technologies are
“Cookies” are small text files a website can store in your browser. “Local storage” and “session storage” are related browser features that let a site keep small pieces of information on your device. “Similar technologies” can include things like pixels, tags, and software development kits. Many sites use these tools to recognize you across visits, build advertising profiles, or follow you from one site to another. That is not how we operate.
Our approach: no ad tracking, no cross-site tracking
We want to be clear about what we avoid by design:
- We do not use advertising, marketing, or retargeting cookies.
- We do not use cross-site or cross-context tracking technologies.
- We do not allow third-party advertising pixels or trackers on the Site.
- We do not share information with data brokers, and we do not sell your personal information.
Because of this, you will not see a typical advertising cookie banner on our Site, since there are no advertising or cross-context tracking cookies to consent to.
What we actually use
We rely on two narrow categories of technology: strictly necessary (essential) technologies that keep the Site working and secure, and a single cookieless, first-party analytics signal that helps us understand site usage in aggregate. The lists below describe each one.
Essential (strictly necessary)
- Purpose: To deliver the Site securely and reliably, protect against abuse and fraud, and support core functions such as our creator-application flow at /scouting. These technologies are required for the Site to operate and are not used for advertising.
- Examples: A privacy-preserving anti-abuse check (Cloudflare Turnstile) used in place of a traditional CAPTCHA; security, bot-protection, web-application-firewall, and content-delivery protections that may set short-lived technical tokens to verify requests and keep the Site available.
- Can you turn these off? Because they are necessary for security and basic operation, they are not optional while you use the Site; we keep them minimal and limited to these purposes.
Analytics (cookieless, first-party)
- Purpose: To understand how the Site is used in aggregate — for example, which pages are viewed and how far visitors scroll — so we can improve content and layout. This is first-party only and is not used to advertise to you or to track you across other sites.
- How it works: We use a per-tab token stored in your browser’s sessionStorage. This is not a cookie. It exists only for the current browser tab and is cleared automatically when you close that tab, so it does not follow you between visits or across sites. It powers a lightweight, privacy-preserving usage beacon.
- What it is not: No advertising cookies, no third-party ad pixels, no cross-site or cross-context tracking, and no data brokers are involved.
We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC)
We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. If your browser or extension sends a GPC signal, we treat it as a valid request not to sell or share your personal information — which aligns with how we already operate, since we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. How you stay in control
You have several straightforward ways to manage these technologies:
- Browser settings: Most browsers let you block or limit cookies, local storage, and session storage, and to review or clear what a site has stored.
- Clear site data: You can clear the Site’s stored data (including any session token) at any time through your browser’s privacy or site-settings controls; closing the browser tab already clears our per-tab analytics token.
- Enable GPC: You can turn on a Global Privacy Control signal in a supported browser or extension, and we will honor it.
- Decline non-essential where offered: Where we offer a choice for any non-essential technology, you can decline it. Note that essential, strictly necessary technologies cannot be switched off while you use the Site, because the Site needs them to function and stay secure.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie & Tracking-Technologies Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal and operational reasons. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date shown above and post the revised version on the Site.
